Location: - St. Kitts, also known as St. Christopher’s, is an island located in the northern part of the Leeward Islands in the eastern Caribbean. St. Kitts is situated about 1,300 miles (2,100 km) southeast of Miami, Florida, in the United States. St. Kitts is 23 miles long and 5 miles wide, encompassing an area of 69 square miles and boasts a population of 31,880. The island's point of highest elevation is Mt. Liamuiga, a 3,792 foot extinct volcano. Nevis (St. Kitts sister island) lies to the south and is approximately 7 miles in diameter, covering a total of 36 square miles. St. Kitts & Nevis are separated by a channel two miles wide. Together they form the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Currency: - The currency used in St. Kitts and Nevis is the Eastern Caribbean dollar (EC) which maintains an exchange rate of 2.6882 to-one with the United States dollar. The US dollar is as widely accepted throughout the island.  Additionally, major credit cards are accepted. 

Temperature: - The yearly average temperature is 79 degrees; annual rainfall averages 55 inches; humidity is low, and constant northeast trade winds keep the islands cool.

History: - St. Kitts is home to Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Brimstone Hill is called “the Gibraltar of the Caribbean." Nevis (reached by local ferry) has the Alexander Hamilton Museum, the Botanical Gardens, several sugar plantations and other fascinating historical sites.
